Do phone instalments have to be paid after the subscriber dies?

According to the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), a provider may not charge a penalty for early termination of a contract because of the subscriber’s death. Instalments for a phone bought from the operator are different: some operators end the instalment agreement without the heirs having to pay, others expect repayment or the return of the device. Check the terms of the specific operator. Invoices issued up to the day the death is reported are an estate debt. The number can be taken over by assignment.
