A pension or disability benefit for the month in which the death occurred is due in full, regardless of the day of death. If ZUS did not manage to pay it, the unpaid benefit is claimed by the spouse, and then by children and other family members who shared a household with the deceased. The ENS application must be filed within 12 months of the death; after that the claim expires. Money that arrived in the account for later months is undue and must be returned.
